Bought this to cap the fraying cables on my bike. I didn't need this many, but here we are haha

If you do any work at all on your bike, you will save yourself a lot of trouble by buying a bag of these end caps. I should have done so a long time ago. Of course, new cables usually come with ferrules, but you often need to remove cables to get to other parts of the bike. Having a nice, clean end on the cables makes them so much easier to reinstall. I’ve reused caps by hammering a small nail inside and carefully extracting it, but that’s a lot of work for something so cheap. I’ve also tried soldering the ends of cables, but I’ve never had much success with it. Sometimes the metals are incompatible, and you have to be careful not to make the tip too large to fit through the housing. I’ve come around, and having a bunch of these end caps is the way to go.

Let's face it, they're just cable ends. I've gotten into road biking the last few years and do my own work on the bike. The last time I needed some of these, I went to a bike shop looking to buy some and there were none for sale. I asked one of the guys and they just handed me a few for free. That's a weird way to get them. Now, for under 6 bucks I have a lifetime supply. Cheaper than the gas back and forth to the local shop. Good deal.

I do all the work on my bikes myself including changing the brake and shifter cables. In nearly all cases after installing a new cable you have to trim or cut off the excess cable to prevent the loose end from getting caught up or twisted around other areas of the bike. For example, with the rear derailleur excess wire can wrap around the shift or worse yet get into the spokes. In many cases a new wire comes with the loose end soldered so the individual wires are fused together. You can push it through the cable housing without it unraveling or spreading out - like a paint brush. But when you cut the length, this protection is lost, and the cable can be come unwound. Putting this little cap over the freshly cut cable and using a set of pliers to crimp it on tight protects the cut end and prevents the unraveling. A very simple and easy to apply fix. This set of 120 pieces is probably a lifetime supply. It's a nice accessory to keep in your toolbox ready when you need it. It doesn't go bad, and it fits nearly every cable I've used. This is a nice set that meets the descriptions and images on the webpage. I'm happy having the caps in my kit. They work just as I expected. Nothing fancy - it just works. I would recommend them.

These are the larger type with flared end. Suitable for brake or derailer cable. About 11mm long. Semi-shiny aluminum.I counted 120 as described. One piece was shorter, and had a weird ring in the middle. The rest were good.
