About this item

  • Simply screws onto the insert barrel of most 1.25” eyepieces and accessories with seconds suited for lunar observations. A Moon Filter is also helpful when observing Venus or bright terrestrial scenes. It is not suitable for viewing the Sun
  • The 1.25'' moon filter transmits only 13 percent of the incoming light and improving contrast! This filter makes a difference to the brightness of the moon and the increased contrast. More lunar detail and surface features with your telescope can be observed on the lunar surface. This is especially important when observing the Moon when it is near full
  • The clear aperture is 30mm. It Delievers light in perfectly neutral color, which will not alter the natural color of the Moon and is good for lunar observation

I ordered this along with the Celestron to compare. This filter is cheaper, clearer, and doesn’t rattle like the Celestron. Great buy.

The filter fit perfectly, its give such clear view dimming the white down a little, bringing the out the craters and other details of the moon plus giving the stars in the surrounding area a clearer look.

I actually own a variable density polarizing filter, but wanted to have a second one to be able to swap two eyepieces without moving the filter from one to another. No complaints about this one. I don't see any optical degradation with this filter on, and the density is about right for not quite full moon brightness.

Does the job alright. Doesn't seem to create distortion. You can blame my phone for the glare you see on the picture, you see it without the moon filter anyway.I would still find it too bright to see with naked eye, I would like it better if it was darker, definitely way better than no filter at all, but on a full moon you still get stress after some time of watching.Next time I'll go for a adjustable polarizer instead.

I should have got a moon filter a long time ago. I really like not being blinded in one one after looking at the moon for awhile. I try not to be too wordy in my reviews Not much else to say without wasting your time by me just repeating the ad to you. I do recommend getting a moon filter and I hope my review is helpful.

This is not one of the very expensive filters out there. However, it worked well, with no discernable distortion. When the moon is full, especially if you're taking pictures through that scope, you need a moon filter to knock down some of the brightness and bring out more of the contrast. Unlike an eyepiece where extra money definitely gets you a clearer better view, for a moon filter, in my opinion you really don't see much difference between expensive and less expensive ones. If you can't afford an expensive filter that you probably don't need, this does perfectly fine.

I find myself staring up at the moon more often than not. With this filter, the moon still has a bit of glare to it, so I tend to use my right eye only when viewing through it since it's already got some mild night-blindness to it and my left eye can adjust to seeing in the dark faster. It's still better than having no filter at all and I'm able to use it for a bit before my eye begins to tire.
