I got these for use in my driveway to help make the edges more visible. After unboxing, I placed them in the sun to fully charge. I was concerned when they didn't seem to charge, but then found out they must be turned on to charge. At first I was a bit disappointed as they so lightweight, and tapping on it felt like they were made of plastic, not aluminum as the description stated. After inspecting it though, I do believe it is aluminum, albeit a thinner thickness. The design though should help make it sturdy enough to survive being run over by a normal car.I have a couple of these types of lights from another manufacturer, and those have a huge design flaw. The switch is under the light! If screwing them down to a surface like I am, the switch is inaccessible. These lights do not have that problem. The switch is on the top of the light making it easy to turn on/off or change the mode. There are enough modes/colors to make these light very versatile. I just with you could combine some effects with the colors individually. The 2 effects only work when cycling through all the colors in sequence, and not individual colors. I also wish they included an effect where the LEDs "chase" each other around the light fixture.My biggest complaint though is that these lights are somewhat dim or muted. They are not as bright/vibrant as the other ones I have, and it is quite noticeable when seeing them side-by-side. A brightness/dimmer function would be a nice addition. However, I can't complain as I got 2 of these lights for just a couple more dollars than I paid for each of the other ones I have!The lights themselves work good! You can see them from the sides, but they also allow a small amount of light to escape upwards as well. They have multiple colors, and also two fade/sequential options. They will work well for boaters as you can mimic green and red navigation lights if you have 2 of them (red for port/left and green for starboard/right). There are enough options to satisfy most people, and with the mode switch on the top, it's easy to change.The lights come on during twilight (still partial sun), but I have no idea how long the stay on. I have not stayed up till the wee hours of the morning to see if it stays on all night long. I can say for sure it lasts for at least 5 hours, and it is off when I get up in the morning.The only other concern I have is longevity. The housing should last many, many years, and the LEDs for quite some time as well, but I worry about the solar panel. So many solar lights I have had don't last because the solar panel ends up turning cloudy, and not producing a charge. No idea if these will stay clear or not. Only time will tell. I will update this review if anything changes.

Pros:- Solid construction. These things are like rocks. I believe the seller when it says that they can be run over by a car without damage- Good package. You can either place these on the ground, mount them to a wall, or put them on stakes that anchor them to the ground or a lawn. The package includes all the hardware you need to mount them any of these ways.- Excellent design. Solar lights are pretty common, but these seem to have been carefully designed to be a step above the rest. They're low to the ground, so not subject to wind problems or a tripping hazard. As mentioned above, they're very solidly built -- they have some heft to them -- and seem like they'd last outdoors a very long time; and offer flexible mounting options. Somebody put some thought into this product.Cons- I would have liked to have seen a bigger selection of lighting modes, like the ability to blink ("strobe") in colors other than yellow. Not a dealbreaker for me, and the Amazon page clearly states which color options are available. But still it would have been nice.Neutral$30 for four lights may seem expensive, but when you have one of these in your hand, it becomes obvious that the build quality makes this price more than fair. I wouldn't call these a bargain, but $30 is far from outrageous for a product of this quality. And definitely not enough of an issue for me to downgrade my review to 4 stars.Overall, despite a few nits, I'm very happy with these lights. I've already recommended them to family members.
