I couldn't use normal temps. With these tips, and for heavier work they were notable to conduct enough heat to do common tasks. It turns out the tips are not actually 4mm bore but rather 4.55mm yhat are sleeved down to 4mm. BUT, the sleeve is really a 4mm I.D. tube that has an O.D. of 4.3mm and an expanded section at one end varying from .5 to 1.5mm long to hold it in place in the tips 4.55mm bore. That leaves an air gap of .1mm over the majority of the active heating element. It's no wonder the tips do not heat properly. Whole the alteration concept is not invalid, poor materials and methodology make the tips useless for their intended purpose.BTW, a #8-32 tap will allow easy removal if the sleeves and I suspect they will work okay on a 4.5 mm heating element tool.

Works great for a couple times and then doesn't want to tin up and transfer heat. Once used a few times it Would not melt 1/32 rosin core solder at 750 degrees. OEM tip will melt it at 450.

Bad quality. so hard to use unlike my other soldering tips so I know it isnt my iron. These tips don’t melt the solder easily, and the tip seems like it doesn’t hold heat at all.

Very nice looking tips, wide range of sizes, exactly what I was looking for if it only fit my 68-3c soldering station. Tip base is 6.45 mm, my iron will only accept 5 mm tips.
