Really useful to be able to easily manipulate the laser. So much more flexible than a regular tripod. Not flimsy but could be more solid.

This tool really comes in handy for setting cabinets. If you’re doing drop ceilings it really works great.

I had a really nice old laser level pole that I gave away a few years ago when I moved. Recently, I have needed a laser level quite a few times, and was forced to use my photographic tripods to mount the level. In spite of being excellent for photography, these are very limiting for laser level use because they do not have enough height or ability to finely adjust positioning of the laser level. This kit comes with a tripod and 7 pole segments, one of which is adjustable with a spring loaded end which can be used to secure it against a floor or ceiling. It can be used either free-standing (up to about 16 feet) with the tripod, or wedged between floor and ceiling without the tripod (up to 13.5+ feet). The tripod leg lengths can be adjusted independently and the tripod feet are on ball joints to accommodate uneven surfaces (the tripod does have an integrated bubble level to allow you to get it positioned at level).Once your tripod/pole is up, you attach the gimbal which will hold your level and allow you to adjust position with fine accuracy. A quick release lever allows the gimbal to quickly adjust height up and down by large amounts. Once the approximate height is set, the gimbal has fine adjustment knobs which allow you to finely adjust the level position horizontally and vertically, rotate the level horizontally or vertically, and to tilt the level at an angle from the horizontal. Once your laser lines are placed just where you want them, each of the adjustment knobs also has a locking knob to keep everything in place. This system is versatile, works very well and is essential for the effective use of a projecting laser level, all for a very reasonable price. It also comes with a convenient storage bag with a shoulder strap. My only issue is that all of the components are light weight. The tripod and poles are lightweight and therefore not nearly as stable as my old system. In addition, the adjustment knobs and gears on the gimbal are all plastic and do not operate very smoothly. When making an adjustment (or if something gets bumped) there is a lot of vibration transferred to the level which takes a couple of seconds to die down. If you're a homeowner/DIY person who will only use this occasionally, this is an acceptable trade-off for the price. If you're a professional who will be using this frequently or for long periods, I'd recommend that you spend more to find a heavy-duty system.
