This piezo pick up worked perfectly for me. You must remember, this does not have a built in pre amp. So you should run it through a preamp pedal then to the amp in order to prevent hum.

I found that this ukulele under-saddle pickup works really well. The installation is straight-forward, and if done carefully, the volume seems to be very equal across all the strings. I think the sound is normal for an under-saddle pickup, not quite as natural as some other pickup types, but a decent, solid option.Since there isn't a lot of documentation, a couple thoughts about installation in case someone finds it useful:It is necessary to drill a 1/8" diameter hole through the bridge in the saddle channel -- that's fairly straight-forward, but make sure there are no chips or other debris left in the slot that might affect the contact with the pick-up.The end block requires a 1/2" diameter hole. I would recommend drilling a smaller diameter hole (10mm or 3/8") with a brad point bit and use a reamer to size the hole to the correct diameter in order to avoid any tear-out or other issues. It will be necessary to file ~ 0.040" off the bottom of the saddle. The bottom of the saddle needs to be extremely flat so that it makes complete contact with the pickup for the entire length, otherwise it will affect the balance of the string-to-string volume. I'd recommend holding the saddle against a straight edge and then hold that up to a light in order to be able to see the slightest gap. Sandpaper on a flat surface as a final step is a good method. If you do experience a quiet string, it will almost certainly be due to a dip in the saddle edge, so it is a good idea to take extra care with this step to ensure everything is as it should be.The 1/4" jack has a small hole that is used to keep the jack from spinning while tightening the nut. I also use that to tie on a piece of string in order to pull the end of the jack out. It may take a bit of trial and error to get the right amount of the jack sticking out of the instrument.I use a pre-amp. The one I use has some basic EQ and a low Hz cut-off which helps eliminate some of the unwanted noise you might get from touching the top and such. I think the pickup does a good job of being even throughout the frequency range, so I haven't found it necessary to EQ much of anything other than the extreme low end.

Easy installation after getting up enough courage to drill two holes in my ukulele...and the result is great amplified sound at a small fraction of the cost of installing a pickup at my local music store!

You need to know what you’re doing for installation but they work! Quality product!

First off, it didn't work: If I remove it and toss it then I end up a nice hole in the rear bout of my ukulele. My project took too long to complete leaving me with a bad part and past the time to return it. Also, the piezo pickup was destroyed when I removed it from the bridge. So, if you bought one I hope it worked better for you. I will be shopping for something with a better track record, and probably costing considerably more, than this one.
