How to Use a Nylon Lock Nut
1.Examine the nylon insert of the nylon lock nut to ensure that the insert is not damaged.
2.Thread the nylon lock nut onto the bolt or threaded stud and turn the nut clockwise with your hand until it no longer turns. This will be the point that the nylon insert contacts the top thread of the fastener.
3.Place the socket that matches the nylon lock nut on the 3/8 inch drive ratchet.
4.Slide the socket onto the nylon lock nut and turn the handle of the ratchet clockwise to turn the nylon lock nut onto the fastener. You will feel some resistance from the nylon lock nut as you turn it onto the fastener. This is created by the nylon insert and is completely normal.
5.Continue turning the ratchet handle until the nylon lock nut seats tightly against the surface of the material you are securing with the nut.c
6.Inspect the nylon insert of the lock nut to ensure that it is intact after installation.

There are good quality lock nuts.I often install range hoods with bolts and lock nuts to make much more secure installations. These nuts performs consistently. The price is reasonable.

If you're looking for functional nylon-locking nuts, these will work fine, but if you want a good-looking black finish, these are a disaster.

I have found most 1/4-20 nuts are a little loose on their intended screws, whether they are old or new screws. So lock nuts can be useful where nuts tend to loosen up. These nuts work fine. They require a wrench to tighten.

I had depleted my supply of 3/8-16 nylon locknuts, so these were a no brainer for me. As I find myself creating or repairing more items that will be living outdoors, the fact that they were stainless steel was a big plus. Another plus is that these nuts are made of 304 stainless steel rather than the more common 18-8 stainless steel. 304 is both stronger and more corrosion resistant than the 18-8. The price of these is very reasonable, and in some cases, less expensive than the 18-8 variety. Threads were well cut and they smoothly thread on to my bolts. I'm very pleased.

I bought these to get one to replace a lost nut from an outdoor location. The largest was adequate and even though it is in an outdoor location should last a very long time. The product seems to be of good quality. I am sure to find a use for the remaining nuts.
