Apparently I opened the box of my vacuum and then threw away the box with the cord still in there (or else there was no cord). I was not hopeful that I would be able to find one that would fit as it is a weird type of cord, but I was able to find one. It was half the cost of the vacuum, but at least now I can use it. A good lesson for me to be sure I have everything out of the box. Good description on Amazon so I knew which cord to get.
