These plastic spike mats are easy to use, effective and humane. They keep squirrels out of my potted plants, without harming them.I really like that these come in a flat stack of segments, rather than a roll, like other types I've used. The rolled type are always distorted and can be difficult to get in place. These flat segments are super easy to unstack, align to the intended area, (trim if needed) and install. The little connector tabs are great for keeping a continuous coverage area.I put them in a few of my potted plants where tree squirrels have been digging and the squirrels immediately gave up their daily excavation attempts. A couple of squirrels have jumped up, touched the spikes and quickly jumped back down. The included metal stakes are very helpful in keeping the spike mats in place. Other brands don't even include stakes. I wish there were about double the amount included, though.I'm very pleased with the ease of use and effectiveness of these mats.

This is a review for "16 x 12 inch Scat Mat for Cat, 8 Pack Cat Deterrent Mat with Spikes for Indoor & Outdoor Use, Humane Pet Repellent to Keep Animal and Dog Away from Furniture, Plants and Yard"I have a neighbor cat that is using my plant beds as her personal outdoor litter box and my persimmon tree as her scratching post. As I'm tired of dirt being spread all over my patio and I like the persimmon tree better than this cat, I ordered this set of spikey things to thwart the cat.I wrapped one of the sheets around the trunk of my tree, where the cat had nearly scratch all the bark off. I tied it loosely enough so it would not gouge the tree trunk. I secured it with two zip ties. For my planter beds, I simply laid these mats out under and around the plants. Now there is no patch of open dirt large enough for the cat to dig. Best $20 I have spent in a long time. The pictures show the connector holes on the edges of these sheets where you can link several together. I can confirm this works.

Sometimes it works, some times it don't. Depends on how determined your pet is...I have several feral cats and a few domestic cats that like to hang out in our yard. (probably because the wife feeds them)So I put this matting in two key areas, right under the bird feeder, and under the two bushes that the cats like to use to hide from the birds. At first it worked great! No cats hanging under the bushes our looking up longingly at the feeder. Then after about a week, I look out the window to find the Two of the cats SLEEPING ON TOP OF THE SPIKES!! So it sort of works. The cats are no longer hanging right under the bird feeder, But the mats under the bushes are only a deterrent for a select few. Not all pets will put off by the spikes. On the Plus side, Doves and other ground feeding birds have no issue eating the seeds that gather in the ribbing pattern of the spike pads. The plastic is Very stiff but not brittle out of the box, and its easy to lay out and spike down.

I like the design of these scat mats because they allow your flowers to grow through the holes. I'm hoping they'll help discourage the squirrels from munching on my plants. Also, they're easy to trim to size. I used wire cutters. I do wish that they would have included more spikes to hold them in place, though. It was fine for me since I already had a ton of extra spikes around, but I'd suggest purchasing extras.
