These are good. Exactly as pictured. Zinc coated. Good for light work in a wood project.

Very useful assortment of threaded inserts in common sizes I use.Placed a couple of them in a test piece of pine and they inserted easily and securely. Not sure of their vertical loaded capacity yet but they should hold 5-10lbs before they pull free of soft woods, mostly just due to their length.Overall, happy with the product.

I have several mini machining tools (lathes/mills) that are all sitting on wood topped stands. To increase the stability and rigidity of the tools (for better surface finishes) I bolt them down. In the past, I would drill all the way through the top and bolt it from below the top. With these, I can tap a thread into the wood without having to go through the top. I use threaded rods or different length bolts and attach the tools to the table with these inserts. Its a bit nicer for me and doesnt mess up the metal top of the stands. I can replace the wood if it gets mangled enough.

Unfortunately these are not high quality inserts.I checked all 15 of the M6x10mm inserts, and here is what I found:- 7 were perfectly fine- 2 were burred up significantly, but I could clean them with a tap- 6 were machined so poorly that they were unusable. Take a look at the photo, you can see how they didn't machine thru the centerline of the insert.Unfortunately I cannot recommend these inserts. 1 star.

I just finished building a new workbench for my CNC machines to set up tool holders, and I needed to bolt down my various tool holder chucks. The workbench is made from two pieces of Advantech (high quality OSB) glued together to be 1-1/2" thick which I then covered with Formica brand laminate sheets. These chucks need to be bolted down tight as I will be applying quite a bit of pressure at times to loosen stuck collet nuts, and I really do not feel that some wood screws are up to the task. I could use lag bolts probably, but I did not want to risk cracking the laminate sheet with the "volcano" that often times rises up around lag screws as they displace the wood while they for their own threads. So, I drilled some holes all the way through, so I could use machine bolts and just stick some nuts under them, and that would work great.... but... I hit a snag... 2 of the most important bolts could not possibly use nuts, because the structural pipe I am using to hold up the workbench goes right under where the nuts would have to be... what to do.... Well, these Threaded Inserts were just the solution!! They screw into an oversize hole from the bottom and sit flush with the bottom surface and provide nice secure machine threads, so the bolts do not need to protrude at all, and my project is saved! I like how the inserts worked so well I put them on all the bolts, so nothing is protruding underneath, I used both the M6 and M8 inserts from this set as well as some larger ones I got from another set.I have tightened down my tool chucks as tight as I would have if they had nuts under the bottom, and the inserts are holding very well. I am able to apply a lot of pressure and nothing moves, and I am very happy with these thread inserts!
