These should be very water tight when closed up and the lead is plenty long.One fairly large caveat: the conductor size is barely 18 gauge, if that. Not a problem for specific applications, but the typical design max ampacity (current carrying capacity) of that size wire is 16 amps unenclosed/unbundled. The included 20A fuses should not be used with this holder - the wire will likely melt before the fuse blows. There's a 16GA version which would handle 20A.I used one of these for a hard-wired 12V automotive battery trickle charger plug-in extension on a car that isn't driven frequently. Since the leads to the battery are always 'live', even with the charger disconnected, this prevents a potential short if they get damaged somehow.
