I replaced my tattered pink fiberglass insulation with paper backing in my garage and basement that was held in place with staples with unfaced rock wool insulation. I didn't want waste time by pulling out the hundreds of heavy staples so I used these support wires to hold the heavy rock wool in place. This made my job so much easier and I was able to do the entire job in a few hours. Works great and is affordable. Exactly what I needed. Now my garage is ready for drywall and my basement ceiling is both soundproof and ready to be finished.

I'm using these to support mineral wool in my basement ceiling. They're springy and easy to bend into place, and should work just fine for supporting insulation. For mineral wool (which holds itself in place pretty well) I expect to put these every 24-30 inches or so. If you prefer flimsy, itchy, fiberglass, you'd probably need to put them in every 12-16 inches.With 180 in the pack, this covers 240 linear feet of joist bays at 16 inches, or 360 linear feet at 24 inches.One thing they're missing is a pointy end. The insulation wires I've seen are clipped at a 45° angle so they can dig into the joist a little. On my old rough sawn joists this isn't a problem, but if you're working with modern (sanded smooth) lumber, they might get a bit fussy.They are exactly 40 cm long and 2mm in diameter, which is just a hair under 15-3/4 inch long and around 5/64 inch in diameter (approximately 12 gauge).They fit in 16 inch joist bays just fine. Compared to the kind I can find at the big blue and orange stores, these are 1/4 longer and 12 gauge instead of 13 gauge.
