The grid ruling is a great idea for steno pads. The pads themselves are top-opening and very easy to write/draw in without bumping into a binding coil on the side. However, the ruling on these pads is so dark, that you're going to need a much darker pen for any diagrams to be seen. A much lighter or faint ruling would be more practical. I'm using them to record and analyze my chess games, because the grid pattern allows for easy drawing of board, piece, and position diagrams. If the pads had a lighter ruling, they would be outstanding for many other uses including writing, note-taking, or journaling.

The pad is good, everything normal good. The blue lines for the grids are pretty bold. If you are using this for a regular writing pad and like to have grid, the lines on the paper make your notes more difficult to read.
