Listing should have stated that the product was not new. The wires were kinked in the same place as my old one in order for it to fit inside the housing. The 3 wires that can be released from the pull chain switch were properly tinned, while the other two that need to be cut for removal were frayed, indicating they themselves were cut. Did not fix my issue, but I assume the fan is the problem and not the part purchased here.
