I do professional IT, and I have seen a wide variety of rack mount shelves out there. The ATOM NEXUS shelf is simple, but effective. It is an excellent choice for a small rack shelf.Shelves are automatically a problem to add to a rack because they impede air flow. While some racks may have a few slots to try to allow air flow, this one has many large holes, allowing air to flow through without resistance. The shelf isn't full length so it needs to use four mounting holes on one U, but it is rigid enough to be sturdy. I am using it in a rack in my basement for a home lab where it's holding smaller and lighter things, so I don't need 50 lb weight capacity at this time, but I am sure it would be up to the task.

This is a very nice shelf. Comes packaged really nicely to avoid damage. The metal is thick and the coating is even. I had no trouble mounting it into my rack. The wings are a good size and slotted so there's a good bit of wiggle room to get it to fit.

Fits well in standard rack. mine is shallow and it fits there as well. a router, power supply or other device without mounting tabs . I actually used this one at the back to hold power supplies neatly

Received my rack Shelf in good condition. The Shelf appears to be made of quality materials and I found no flaws or defects in it's Construction. It fit in my enclosure just as it should and I'm pleased with my purchase.

Bolts right in. Super sturdy. There is enough room to run cords through the back. All good. I would order again.

I've installed several 1u trays lately, and I'd say these Atom Nexus ones are probably the solidest. I can't imagine what you could put on them that they wouldn't hold up stably. It's nice that there's no assembly, and that it comes with decent washers and cage nuts.I also appreciate the venting on the bottom, so there can be some air flow through it and it's not just a heat collecting box.I can't think of anything much that could be improved. This is an excellent choice.

Pros: Well constructed, enamel or powder coated. Well ventilated allowing good airflow. Reasonably strong given all the vents. Included standard mounting hardware.Cons: 40 pound weight limit would be pushing things. Not what I would consider heavy-duty.Subjectively this is a decent rack shelf. The addition of all the hexagonal vent holes compromises the shelf rigidity. A trade-off between heat dissipation versus load capacity. While it might be capable of supporting up to 40 pounds it would be ill-advised to hang that weight off the back of the shelf and expect it to hold without issue.
