If you let go of the top part the pickles just slips. It’s usable but flimsy

The metal used is not shaped well and is too flimsy to grab a pickle out of the jar, without rebending the tips of the prongs. This item starts to rust after the first use, even when rinsed with clean tap water, becomes an unusable rusty mess in less than 5 attempts at usage. They forgot to use stainless steel, essentially rendering this item as an absolute throw away item. Don't waste your money.

I somehow lost the pickle picker I used to have and was thrilled when I found the exact one on Amazon! It is perfect for retrieving pickles, olives, etc.

They don’t do a good job of grabbing items out of jars. Very flimsy. Mine also rusted and I threw them out. Waste of money.
