Bought for my tree during the drought. But my tree was a little to large for the bag to fix. Ordered a second bag, they zip together to surround larger trees. Perfect, filled both bags with water and my tree is doing fine now. Slow water release over hours, works perfect.

I’ve seen these over the years on newly planted trees when I’ve been out on walks. Now that I myself have a newly planted tree, I decided to give this a try. It works so well! Fill it with water and over 5-9 hours, the water will trickle out, slowly watering the tree. Fill this up 2-3 times per wee, and your tree should be well on its way to becoming an established, growing tree.

This is my 4th Treegator bag--one for each tree I've planted over the past 3 years. They are durable and easy to fill, as long as you follow the directions about grabbing the handles to settle the bag in place when it is partially full, so that it doesn't lean into the tree. I had a doughnut style tree bag initially for one of my trees, but raccoons tore holes in it. In the 3 years that I've had one of my Treegator bags, it has not been disturbed by raccoons, and it still looks brand new, even though it sits out all summer in the sun.

This past summer we have suffered through unprecedented drought conditions. My young cherry tree was stressing. I didn't wish to stand next to the tree daily to water with a hose mainly due to water run-off. After so much watering, the water would run away. This is an issue for our clay-soils of Maryland. I bought 2 of these bags, enveloped my tree, filled 'em up, and voila! Slow watering at it's best! Maximum use of expensive water. The bags are heavy duty equipped with strong zippers to connect more than one bag. You fill the bag into the hole hidden under the product tag, which flips up. I'm excited to find a method of controlled watering. Great product. By the way, I did read reviews of retailers with cheaper knock-off versions... just remember, you get what you pay for.

A number of new and expensive trees were planted, and as with most of these it is important to keep them well watered in the first two years or so. There are a number of different brands, but reviews suggest that the rate of water release with some of them left something to be desired. In this case, they worked perfectly, releasing their full load over say half a day. Interesting to note that the gardeners which maintain a large number of recently planted trees nearby have used this brand. Possibly more expensive that some others, but well made and does the job intended. Thoroughly recommended.

Great treegator. Exactly as described and advertised and very easy to fill up. The quality of the treegator is also exceptional in that the plastic is very thick - I was concerned that the opening could rip or tear when inserting and removing the watering hose over time, but I have been using this for over 2 years now and it still looks brand new! Highly recommended and would purchase again!

These work great. I have 7 of them for 7 trees and use them quite often. The bags take a few minutes to fill and 4-5 hours to drain (that can vary depending on random surface/placement conditions). The bag material is very nice and sturdy with reinforced "mesh" stitching. The zippers operate smoothly. The bags can be zipped in multiples together easily for larger trees. I have also used them to place next to smaller shrubs that I cant wrap around. There are two holes in the bottom that I can see that are the drip source. I also have added a cup of fish emulsion liquid fertilizer to the bags when watering, Ill see how that goes. (*Update below)Occasionally the holes at the bottom can become "pinched" underneath with a flap of material (*Update below), but that is easily remedied by picking the bag up and putting it down again. You can see when that happens if the bag hasn't drained a bit after an hour.I would easily recommend this product. Make sure your hose can reach.*Update:1) several bags did stop draining. But it is fixable. The two holes exist inside the "tucked in" corner, and sometimes the pressure of the bag fill can + the placement can cause the hole to become clogged. I believe the placement is intentional for controlled release, but under certain conditions it stops itself shut. They would do well to place something around the hole to ensure it does not seal when compressed.2) For the love of dogs do not use fish emulsion fertilizer with these. It is a trifecta of terror. Why? A) The bags never drain fully (which is fine to itself) 2) Flies absolutely love fish emulsion fertilizer for food and egg laying. 3) maggots thrive in these bags. It was an unpleasant discovery. I will still absolutely use fish emulsion for fertilizer, but I will simply apply it to the tree mulch directly (diluted, of course). Just not via the bags.I still love these things. But I am updating to 4/5 stars due to the corner flap periodically causing the drain holes to compress close (about 10% of the time). They need to engineer a small piece to prohibit this.

Great product, very well made and the design is excellent. I particularly like the two handles that allow for repositioning around the tree trunk when being filled with water. This is a great invention and has really helped my newly planted trees thrive. We live in a new subdivision and several of the common area trees have died or are definitely stressed due to the lack of deep watering. I noticed another subdivision using these bags and all of their trees looked very healthy. It is a bit pricey, but saves time, saves water and helps get new trees established and thriving regardless of the weather. It only takes about 6 hours to drain 20 gallons of water, so it is easy to move the bag from tree, tree. New trees require watering 2x per week. Once established I will cut back to once a week. I have also started adding some liquid fettilizer to the bag (very diluted) designed for watering cans. Kudos to Tree Gator, Made in America.
