Not soft anything, these are very hard plastic jaw covers, returned and went with an actual soft pair.

These vise jaws aren't 4-1/2 inches; they're 3-7/8", or 10cm. If the product was available in different sizes I'd just assume someone picked the wrong size off the shelf for my order, but no; they're only available in the one size.Beyond that, they're okay. They're soft enough so that you could clamp a screw in your vise without worrying about crushing the threads, or clamp a piece of pine without marring it unless you really cranked down hard on the vise handle. And they're usable in a 4-1/2" wide vise, if not ideal.Hopefully the seller will correct the product description soon.

I was really looking forward to using these jaw liners in my vise. I ordered them based on the description that specified they are 4-1/2 inches long (or fit 4-1/2-inch vise jaws). However, the liners are significantly shorter than declared. They are, in fact, 3-7/8 inches long and are just too short for my vise. As for the material and build quality, these liners are not soft at all. They are made of rigid plastic. On a positive note, the magnets are strong enough to prevent them from falling off the vise. For all these reasons, I can't recommend this product.

I bought these for bench work on my guns and these are perfect. They attach very easily and are as easy to remove.
