The larger trash bins that the garbage company provides are a tad bit awkward for these, however with some improvisation they work, they are tight, but will stretch out a bit and work well when our windy season hits here soon. In my case I took the sewn in loop and ran the metal hook through it while the belt was inserted around the rod that comprises the back hinge mechanism, then pulled it tight, and loosen the belt to the longest length so that it would hook in the front of the bin. Worked for the trash bin and the recycle bin, these are the 96 gallon bins, the largest that are offered here. It is tight, but the trash folks can loosen it, they were able to today without any lose of time on their route. If you have a trash company that only uses the mechanical arm, these will not work. I have deliberately changed my trash company to one that does not use the mechanical arm and is local, a long time ago since the mechanical arms will not permit tying the bin lids down. We get a lot of high winds, I am not in the mood to chase my trash. These belts are great, improvise, adapt, and they will work perfectly for you.

I got these as a surprise for my husband (and a treat for me) so, prior to a storm, he wouldn't cover the trash buckets with bungee cords anymore. Well....how are these supposed to attach to the bucket? It's just a loop on the opposite end from the hook. So yes I can thread it through but then it's just about impossible to tight it up using the slider adjustment, since it's inflexible nylon. And i'm certainly not going to mess with trying to tighten/loosen it each and every time. So unless you have a bucket that has something that you can slip a loop through, this is an epic fail for a quick garbage tie-down.

I have bins provided by the city so I can't drill. I thought this would be perfect, despite the thumbnail images showing a squirrel blocking the strap and how it attaches. Well, it's just a loop back there, and the metal hook is far too small to get around the metal grip in the front. There's really no way of attaching it if I can't get that loop open to put around the handle of the bin.Useless in so many ways.

Product is built very well. Very sturdy. But the way the strap attaches is not well done. You basically loop it through itself where you can, pull it and cinch it and that serves as the attachment. There is no other way. It makes the strap twist and not sit flat against the can. It's not a good design but it IS supposed to be more of a "universal" design. Also, do make sure it's the correct size for the bin before ordering. I guessed and got that part wrong. That's my fault, not the sellers. The ad does say 30-50 gallon. Other than that, it IS a sturdy well built design, the only drawback being the way it attaches.

The design is a good idea that is poorly executed. I have two 40 gallon cans and one 50 gallon can. I wrapped the strap around the handle and looped the metal clip through the loop. The straps are too short for both sizes. The metal clip open-end is not wide enough to fit over the grab bar on the front of the cans as shown in the picture. The top of the can opening doesn't have a rim or lip for the hook to connect to either. This is basically useless. I could drill holes in the top and mount the strap to the top with screws, but the hook still will not clamp onto anything.

Omistar 2 PCS Trash Can Locks, Universal Garbage Can Lid Lock did not work. I have trash bin and recycling bin issued by the city. A rather standard design and from the photos it looked like it should work. It did not. Like other reviews, one end is sewn shut so it won't attach to the handle of the bins. The handles are fixed in place and can't be moved. One person recommended looping the metal clasp end through to create a loop around the handle. I tried that and thought it was clever BUT it didn't work. Now the strap, even fully extended, would not secure the top. Not enough length. Will not work for either trash nor recycling bin. Not sure what I can do with these items. The nylon strap and the metal clasp are pretty solid and I should think I can find some use for them but disappointed this did not work for the reason I ordered. Would not recommend.
