I used these to make a support base for a flag attached to the front of the house. I didn't trust that the included base spread the forces enough to be very sturdy. One of these plates was the perfect solution. I sanded and painted it, drilled some holes and it's perfect.

Worked for what I needed - adding input jacks, output jacks, and an IEC connector to a Gator aluminum pedal board for my guitar effects pedals. I cut them to size/shape (easily done on a bandsaw with a wood cutting blade), sanded them, smoothed the edges, primed with self-etching primer then sprayed them flat black to match the board. Drilled and held in place with rivets. Very nice.
