These solenoids are tiny indeed, but they look different than the photo.At rest the plunger is retracted. At the specified amperage (and higher) the plunger is magnetically released, meaning it can be pulled forward with a gentle tug or a spring, but it does not extend forward on its own like a common solenoid. I did not understand this when purchasing, but I am a novice electronics-wise.

I was going to use this solenoid as an automated tapper for playing PokeMon Go.A multivibrator circuit would pulse the solenoid at 4HZ and the actuator rod has a small touch-sensitive bit of rubber on it. I'll have to keep searching for a low current 5vdc mini solenoid.A few things to note, the advert states apx. 350mA to operate this solenoid, but I measure the coil at 2.1 ohms which at 5VDC would be apx. 2.5 amps of current to actuate. That is a bit of current to run through this teeny coil.Also the actuator rod is only retained by a magnet on the back side of the solenoid, if you get enough voltage to dislodge it from the magnet it will probably go flying.
