I have a window A/C unit in a shipping container that I use for a workshop. I wanted to be able to control it with an Ecobee thermostat, so I could use the Ecobee app to control the temperature and scheduling, as I have a Ecobee thermostat in my house. So I got a used Ecobee thermostat and wired the cool output to turn on this contactor, and used the contactor to supply power to my window AC unit, then just set the thermostat on the window A/C to max cool and everything is working perfectly! I can now set the temperature out in my shipping container shop to something kind of high like 80 degrees and use the Ecobee "Dehumidify with A/C" feature to maintain the humidity, and if I plan to go out there and do something, I can use the app to turn down the temperature to 70 before I even go out there, so by the time I get there, it's nice and cool. This contactor works great with the 24VAC system that most A/C systems and thermostats use and the 40Amp capacity is way more than what my 20Amp window A/C unit requires.I am very happy with this and I'm glad I found a solution to control a window A/C unit with an Ecobee thermostat, it's been really great to lower the temperature before I go out there so it's always nice and cool when I arrive.

I purchased this to keep as a spare for my air conditioner outdoor unit and will update the review after I install it. From initial inspections it looks and feels like a good comparable quality to more expensive name brands. It looks like almost a universal fit as it will accept bare wires with screw down terminals or it has the push on style connections too which is what my AC unit uses.

Replaced my HVAC contactor with this when the old one seized up / welded it self in the CLOSED position and the AC wouldn't turn off. This fixed the problem in about 2 minutes. Swapped in just fine.BE AWARE: This is made for U-shaped screw lugs, not O-shaped screw lugs, due to the headless screws that this has. Look closely at the pictures and make sure it will work for you. I've seen wires that used both types, you don't want to get the wrong kind and be disappointed.Well-built, works perfectly.

we have an older hvac that we arent quite in a position to replace yet. it stopped worling last winter and i knew we needed to do someting. luckily it was just a broken contact on the contactor and this is super easy to replace. electricity is scary so do due diligence before you replacve this so you dont get shocked. anyway 3 contacts on the part and i thing i had 6 wires to connect to it. i took a pic before hand and out them back like they were on the new one and crossed my fingers. hopefullly she will hold out for another year or 2.

I took at look at the contact assembly after removing the top cover. One of the important things to evaluate is contact alignment, which had the stationary and movable contacts nicely centered on each other. A second factor is overtravel. This is how much additional travel of the armature occurs after the contacts mate. This extra travel allows for continued use after the contacts wear and arc during use. Inspection of the quality of plastic molding tells how carefully the unit was manufactured, and on this unit it was pretty good. This contactor has got a UL listing number (backwards RU symbol and E508253 number) for use in other assembles. The standard UL listings you may be familiar with are for devices used directly, not as part of a larger assembly. Same agency, however. When energized, it pulls in with a sooth action and doesn't have any buzzing sound.Looks like it fits the standard US HVAC footprint and form factor, and has extra tab terminals on both the line and load sides. If I was still doing HVAC work, I'd buy a few to keep in my stock.

The shopcorp 24VAC 40A 2 pole NO, is well constructed and has multiple terminal connections and a universal mounting base that should allow this contactor to be used in most any HVAC environment. The 40A contactor connections have both terminal connections and a screw down large wire mounting capability as well. ( see enclosed pixs). This product is working very well in an emergency repair job just completed today. Overall quality and workmanship should provide reliable operation for an extended period of time.

This should fit over 90% of home AC units. I have a Trane, and it fits fine. It is one of the most common parts to fail, If your AC unit won't start, this could be the issue. I like to keep one on hand, as well as a capacitor. Both are not too difficult to change yourself, if you have to. My unit is probably going to break when there is a few days wait to get a serviceman out to the house. The quality seems OK, but I will see how long it lasts. I am glad I got this.
