Very easy to work with, very soft and will roll/fold easily when you want. The only real issue is that it's a little on the thin side...I just wish the weight was a little heavier. But for the price, it's a good value.

My girls have been quilting with their Grandma, and thus began my foray into the quilting world. I confess I didn't know much of anything about it before they started, but by the time they were finished with their first quilts, I had spent a good deal of time in the quilting shop looking at fabrics and learning a few things about the newest trends and techniques. One thing I learned is that Jelly Rolls are all the rage. I also learned that they're a brand name, and they have other names like "rollie pollies". These are long strips of fabric that are 2.5" wide that come in color-coordinated packs, and even themed ones like Christmas or Halloween. One can take these bits and turn them into rugs, or make other things like coasters for hot plates and the like. This product isn't a rolly polly bit of fabric as much as it is quilting backing for one. I did a bit of research after I got these to see how it is used, and I mostly just came across area rugs. For larger quilts, people generally make a wider bit of fabric and use more traditional batting. But I did find a few tutorials about making those rolled rugs, and they were raving about how nice it is to use a product like this one to make the sewing easier. These are a bit less wide than the Jelly Rolls (they are 2.5", these are 2.25). This will make sewing easier because you have a bit of an overlap to work with.I'm confident that my girls will appreciate this batting as a Christmas present and will put it to good use. It's very soft- almost pillowy soft. It's like a soft felt. It's also firm and doesn't tear easy. It came in a nice box that perfectly holds both rolls.I'm really excited to see what the girls will cook up with this!

I am so pleased with this role of batting. This will save me so many hours of cutting batting by hand. It has a nice weight and is easy to use. I also like that it’s 2 1/4 inches and instead of 2 1/2 like so many others. It makes for easier folding when making rugs. This is a winner!

I was recently exposed to batting in strips and it's a cool idea. This seems nice and will be fun to play around with and create various quilted items.

From a value standpoint, this is a very good deal. One roll is 50 yards. I am using these to make Jelly Roll rugs (i.e. rope rugs). Not really much to say other than that they are nicely packaged and wrapped.

I am using these to make coiled quilted hot pads as gifts. Perfect for this project, and am extremely generous supply!

Rope basket and Jelly Roll rug supplies are becoming very popular vendor items at quilt shows lately. I do like working with quilt batting better than ropes, and I really hate cutting up my batting into 2 1/4 inch strips, so I was glad to see these rolls come available. This batting does seem a bit thinner than what I've used before but I know it will work fine in a rug. However, because it is thinner, I won't be adding to the size of the rug by adding my batting strips to the project. I don't know how big the rug will get with these 2 rolls, but if it's just a door mat, that's OK too. The ad says it is a cotton blend. The batting I've used before is an 80/20 blend of cotton/polyester. The ad does not say the percentage, they really should. Quilters like me look for that.I also find it a bit amusing that they advertise this product can be used for making stuffed toys, quilted projects and totes. When they are selling it cut into a long 50 yards strip, it really is only good for making a rug project. Stuffed toys usually get a fiberfill stuffing. Quilted projects use batting that is sold in sizes for crib, twin, queen or king sized beds, or on a large roll. If you buy these 2 1/4 inch rolls to make a tote bag or quilt, you'll need to zigzag the strips together to make a Frankenbatting.
