This is an economy grade mouse trap with a price to match. There is much that could have been done to make this a high quality trap. I will not get into those things and some of the pitfalls of the trap most have already been discussed in the negative reviews. This trap can be a very deal if you follow these few hints: 1) oil the pivot hinge. 2) drill 1/8" hole centered over the double flap to mount the food bowl over, pushing the hook end thru. I would recommend to putting a tooth pick or something small pushing thru hook end, do not push all the way thru. I found that if you push it all the way thru and the mouse tries to get the goodies it can fall into the bucket without the mouse. 3) if you use the ramp put a 3" or so high platform under it so the climb up isn't so steep. 4) put at least 1 inch of water in the bucket to make it harder for the mouse to jump out of the bucket. 5) Make sure you bate the bucket top and and a teaser at the bottom of the ramp, You may need to do this for a few days before the mouse start falling into the bucket at this point you will not need to put as much on top because they are now familiar with the going up to the top for food you can now put more bait in the bucket, I would smear peanut butter on the bottom of the flap. Good luck!

The price seems unbelievable it would work. The product seems cheap, but the mice use it and that is all that matters. For months they have avoided other traps but fell into this one.Dog friendly. He smelled the peanut butter I used, could not reach it and moved on.Would buy again!

I would rate it a zero if I could. Read reviews that said the same, but tried it anyway, as it seems brilliant.. Absolute waste of time and money. Tried two different types of bait and peanut butter. Rats avoid these things like the plague. Stuff is chewed up right next to these bucket contraptions. Maybe they use rat repelling plastic? Wish I had something good to report. Threw it in the trash.

The lids don't fit properly on a 5 gallon bucket, I made it work, but they don't stay. They do catch mice, BUT they can jump right back out. There are open spaces by the drop door they somehow hop right back out. Caught mouse poop, no mice. I will be able to modify it, but I wouldn't buy these again.

I ordered these after using the little ladder ones that do not have a bucket cover (which did work rather well) in my outbuildings for a couple years; the problem with those was I had to put used motor oil in the bucket (would not freeze in the winter and safer for the cats than anti-freeze) to keep the little buggers from just jumping out of the bucket. I decided to try these due to the cover which I hoped would keep the mice in the bucket and bought to two-pack as a trial. The first night I cause two mice in one of the traps and they stayed in the bucket. Woo-hoo! The second trap in the garage was not as successful - the mouse went in but did manage to escape (lucky bugger). Ok, so I put an inch of water i the bucket and a couple days later, well, the unlucky bugger couldn't trad water long enough. So, then I bought a four0pack and have them in all my buildings. Having the bucket covers, I figure I can use anti-freeze in the winter without having to worry about the cats getting into the buckets. Very happy with these traps!

Two of the letters broke I’m sure mice cannot fly. Hopefully they can replace the ladders for us.!

The gas company came and laid new gas lines to our house, and clearly disturbed a colony and the structure of our home because we became infested with mice. We tried everything traps upon traps different types of bait, different types of traps.I actually hired an exterminator and then I found this great product and the mice are GONE.HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We live in a mobile home in the middle of the woods and get 'field mice' every fall. Usually use snap traps because it was has been all we have found to work so far. Came across this and have seen a few reels about similar products and have seen them be successfulon farms and whatnot. However, the mice do not even try to go up the ramps. Even if I put crumbs on them. I have tried changing the angles of them to make the less steep or more steep and nothing happens. I see them on my ring camera running right by it. Have had it out for about 2 weeks, and have gotten nothing. Tried on the counter, on the floor, on a chair....all with the ramps touching where we know they run. Last night, I put out 4 snap traps, and each one got a mouse. I was hoping to find a working trap to keep them alive and release them, buttttt this doesn't work for us and I can't deal with the mouse poop anymore. I have watched videos and read reviews and feel like I have tried it all to make it work. The assembly and whatnot was fine. The lid doesn't fully sit well on the bucket, it twists slightly, but doesn't affect use. I'm also unsure why the 'cat' cover piece isn't turned so it aligns with the ramps so they would fall right in, not sure why they need to go around all corner to get to the flaps.
