Given as a holiday gift for a young girl (and to use for tea parties with her parents)..this was a much nicer set than expected. It was a lovely design with cups, saucers , pot, stand, etc. They were delighted. Because of the gold plating or leaf (?) we recommend they hand wash and dry it (right after washing) to eliminate any scale or discoloration. No dishwasher.

I want to start by saying this is an absolutely stunning set. If nothing else it's a beautiful set to add to my collection. But I probably won't use these to drink out of.These came packaged really well and it's an impressive feat to ship so many porcelain pieces and have not a single one of them break.Right out of the box every piece was extremely dirty and the paint was already chipping off on a lot of the pieces. The whole set had a dusty black residue on it that washes off but doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. And the fact that the paint is already chipping doesn't make me feel good about the food safety of the paint used on these. Maybe I'm being paranoid but I just feel like glazes should be a bit more durable if they're going to be good safe.Even after washing, there are still smudges that remain.That said, it's still a visually stunning set. Even if I don't use them to drink out of they are definitely a visual showstopper and I don't regret getting them. I will just find ways to use the set that don't involve drinking out of them.

I read several of the reviews mentioning like a powder lead like material on the items upon arrival and it’s very true. It was very hard to scrub off. I had a soak them overnight to make sure it All taken off also when washing it was really hard to scrub. I don’t know what kind of paint they used, but I do not recommend this to anybody.
