they stick to a magnet. 304 stainless is non-manetic/non-feromagnetic. Using a neodymium magnet outside the plastic packaging causes the rings inside to move and folow it. Under rare occurances cold-working 304 can result in a very weak magnetic property however coldworking steel can result in micro-cracks and weak spots which fail under load. This is not an acceptable risk for something made to hold critical mechanical parts together.

I don't review things often but the plastic box these come in is woefully inadequate. The Circlips that are not packaged in their own individual plastic bags in the box are all mixed up. A lot of time has to be spent sorting them out by their size.
