I was curious at first but man does this actually works. I used my electric impact wrench and it lined it up perfect. I tried the other method with the washer and this equipment works better because of the bearing inside.

Helps install wheel studs. Had several stripped out on a used car I bought and this made replacing them much easier.

This tool is a wheel stud installing helper. Now I know, you're probably saying "what the heck do I need that for?" Well, if you have ever broken or mis-threaded one, you know that they can be hammered out fairly easily - if with a bit of care. But how to reinstall the replacement stud? That's where this tool comes in, and let me tell you, if you EVER have to install a wheel stud or any kind of stud that is press fit, you're going to want this tool. No, they do not just slip in the hole. They are a tight MACHINE PRESS fit from the factory, o.k? No, you don't want to heat the hub or freeze the stud or whatever. What you need is this tool. The premise is quite simple. This is a case hardened steel cylinder with machine flat faces, and sized to slip over most automobile sized wheel studs. One face of the device is plain hard steel. The other face of the cylinder is equipped with a thrust type needle bearing - which allows the assembly to spin as you tighten a nut over it - a principle that vastly reduces the axial friction when installing the stud.I hope it is obvious that using a nut compatible with your automobile's wheel stud, (recommended) or even the lug nut itself (not as optimum, but possible) in concert with this tool allows you to pull the stud right into place by simply tightening the nut (with this tool in place, of course)Slip the new stud in from behind and push it as far as possible into the stud's mounting hole. Now slip this tool over the stud. NOTE: I put the thrust bearing face against the face of the wheel flange (which is a bit counterintuitive for some people. I find that avoiding deforming the bearing race is best accomplished this way, since lug nuts often have a tapered seat, while the wheel flange is invariably a flat machined surface. Now, simply tighten the nut. This tool will act as a spacer against which one tightens the stud. As the nut is tightened, it will bear against this tool. The thrust bearing will reduce friction and allow the entire nut and spacer tool assembly to rotate. The pulling force of the nut will be transmitted directly to the stud, which will then be slowly drawn into its final resting place.A fair amount of torque is required, but you will feel a distinct and immediate difference when the stud seats. When it seats fully, you're done. Loosen the nut, remove the wheel stud installer, proceed with your wheel installation. Use a breaker bar. I DON'T use an impact wrench, as I think it is too hard on the thrust bearing. Some guys do, and just accept that the tool has a limited shelf life. YMMV.A very handy tool. Small enough to go in some nook in your "special tools" drawer, well made enough to satisfy the weekend warrior, DIY, and hobbyist mechanic. Probably a "rapid wear item" for professional shops, but it should last for a reasonable period of use even in professional settings.Five stars, no issues. Recommended for anyone who works on cars and has to do the mundane stuff - and who doesn't want to pay a tire shop a couple hundred bucks, drive across town, and wait several hours for them to replace a broken stud.Because when they do it for you, they will use this exact same tool type to do just what I described. :-) It will take them less than fifteen minutes in most cases.Again, YMMV. Five stars - recommended for DIY and weekend warriors who hate getting stuck without the right tool. :-) Tell your buddies you have one of these. Then you can charge them beer (or whatever) when you replace their broken wheel studs.
