The original collett was made of aluminum and provided several years of service but it eventually was discovered broken while changing bits. The brand name rotary tool collett did not fit Milwaukee. Big box store and hardware stores did not have replacements. These are a much tougher looking brass and there are several of them. It was a little more than a OEM aluminum part but there are backups now and they fit the M12 rotary tool perfectly.

Not all are made the same so it is always a crap shoot to see if off brand parts fit. These are perfect and in my opinion better than the original collets supplied by Milwaukee that are cut much farther down and tend to break off leaving the base piece stuck inside the collet shaft.Anyway. These are a great value for the money in my opinion.Hint: If you have a collet that the jaws break off and the base is stuck, use a small tap and just catch it with the thread cutters. Not too much or it will expand. If it expands then you will need to drill it out.

They are long, you will need to grind off the bottom to fit, but otherwise they work.

These are too long for the m12 Milwaukee tool. Only way they will work, is to shorten them by about 4mm or 3/16"

The original equipment collets are hard to find plus they are made of aluminum and are very fragile. the one that came with the tool didn't last more than a week and Milwaukee did not respond back when I tried to get new ones. Also out of stock everywhere I looked. These work and I think the brass will probably hold up longer and the price comes to about $2.00 a piece if you buy 10. There is a slight difference in the length of the brass ones but they can be ground or sanded down in minutes then the fit perfect.
