Believe it or not there is still equipment out there that requires these types of cables. Not really computers, but in my case laboratory equipment. You can’t simply head down to the local OfficeMax or Staples and pick these cables up anymore. If you need this specific type of cable I can’t imagine you can do really any better, or worse.

I ordered a 1 to 1 cable ( not a null modem cable) and got exactly what I ordered. All wires are straight thru with no reversals.

Orders this wire to connect my Kenwood 2000 to my computer. It worked great. Just connect to the serial port and you're good. If no serial port purchase a pci e serial port card. That's what I did. Windows 10 installed drivers for card automatically. Make sure radio is set to 9600 baud rate. Menu 56.

I have these hooked up to my code cutters and my computer server. I can now cut code keys and never have to move from the front of the shop to the rear, what a leg saver. When we had to go back and forth it was a hike each way, now I can stay put, punch in the information and hit start. Bought a bunch of these for a buddy who uses them to remap auto ECUs. Started using them July 2014 and no issues reported so far. pretty good stuff except for one small thing. The configuration they were used in required cutting the cable in half and using only one connector to plug in and the cut end to be wired directly so I can't say about the cable as a whole but non of the connectors have shown any problems so far so I can only assume if left whole there'd be no problems with the cables. good luck.
