"Lifetime" grate lasted 3 years. We burn an average of a cord and a half per year in our fireplace. This one did not last any longer then the much cheaper ones you can get at your local hardware store.

After 4 years it finally fell apart and is half the weight it was. warranty is based on SMALL fires with limited coal underneath to prevent metal erosion. I will admit I normally go threw a cheap grate every year because I heat my house part time with 4 cords of wood / year.For some people this will last a lifetime for those who use a fireplace 100 times a year its borderline.

The fireplace grate arrived promptly and appears to meet the advertised expectations. The best test will be how long it lasts. Our prior grate had disintegrated after some years. It seemed expensive, but am hoping that it will last a longer time. Kate
