It's hard to find used recoil start assemblies for older B&S engines of this time period. What usually goes is this plastic take up spool. Briggs changed this part to a completely different design around this time. In searching for service parts, almost all of those are for the new design, leaving those of us with older machines stuck, unable to easily source replacements. This part has the correct female center that fits over the drive shaft of older B&S motors. It is pretty easy to repair these if you have the parts, if you don't you're SOL! Very happy to find this. Our log splitter is back in action. Would have been a long winter without it.

Rating the product a 2 because it is proving difficult to get the product to work correctly. The product comes with no instructions, although it's not difficult to figure out. I won't waste time trying to return the product, but very disappointed that it's doesn't appear to be well designed.
