I don't have a designated welding area in my crowded garage shop yet. As such, when I'm welding or grinding metal, I need to protect my equipment and supplies from sparks, spatter, and slag. These blankets do an amazing job at preventing any potentially dangerous or costly mishaps from happening. I honestly wouldn't weld in my shop without one.

I test products like this by taking a butane torch (2500˚F at inner flame tip) to one corner. As expected, this mat glowed orange-white hot, and individual fibers did start to break or burn away. But upon removing heat, there was smoke and an odor for a few seconds, but no continuing combustion, and no disturbance to the material's texture beyond the hot spot.I use this material as a safe dropcloth when I'm testing high-power or high-heat electric components. This is a good product, and I recommend it.
