I shaved a bit of material from one corner and tested it for how it oxidizes under a flame: definitely magnesium, of high purity. Very lightweight, easy to file but bending may crack it, magnesium is not ductile. This is great for applications where there are no high temperature spots, to risk the violent oxidation reaction. The usual aluminum alloys are a safer choice if temperatures can go high.
