At first glance this set up was really cute but smaller than expected. Then I opened to find it had several cracks and scratches. One travel tube has a small crack in it, the other has what looks like drill marks? The feeding box also has a thick crack in it that moved when the cap isnt locked on. Since this was bought with really small ants in mind I'm a little worried they might be able to squeeze through. Don't want to go through the trouble of returning as Ive seen other people have had similar issues and I'm worried about receiving one with worse cracks.

Very poor instructions. None of it makes sense. Daughter ended up crying because it was So frustrating to put together. Never did figure it out.

This is a great product! My kids have loved watching the ants work, and every morning they’re excited to check and see what excavation feats were accomplished overnight. It’s a much more interesting design than the original-style ant farm my oldest son had several years back — the individual chambers and tunnels look great from the start, and watching how the ants choose where to put the sand as they move it around is fascinating. Our shipment of ants (separate order from a different vendor) arrived with a few dead ones, and as soon as the ants started their building projects, one of the first things they did was create a burial chamber and move the bodies there before sealing it up! It’s been amazing to watch.Setup was easy as can be, although I did add a little piece of tape over each of the doors that need to stay closed. They swivel pretty easily, and I don’t particularly want to share the rest of our house with the ants! Make sure you add the 50-60 ml water to the sand as directed — it allows the ants to tunnel and pack the sand without collapsing as I saw another reviewer mention. The one thing I would suggest for the design is adding stabilizing feet on the bottom that extend from the front and back. We have curious cats who enjoy watching the ants, too, and it doesn’t take much of a cheek rub from them to knock the farm over when it’s only about an inch deep.Overall, I would definitely recommend this product.

This is a great ant farm with a nice view of the ant colony so you can watch them move around. You can easily add another section by using plastic tubing at several of the pre-drilled holes. The other cool thing is you can use a small Phillips screwdriver to remove the clear sections from the wood to completely clean out the case, or check up on a non-active colony to determine it's status.I recommend this for any and all who are interesting in this cool hobby!
