I use these appliques for 1:6 dioramas/stage set design projects, so my experience with them is slightly different that most. They are highly detailed and well-made wooden onlays that are sure to please - especially if you are using them for more traditional (full-scale) uses.They are made of oak, so they are durable and take stain/paint extremely well and can be made to match whatever wood base you are applying them to. Alternatively, they can be stained/painted separately (prior to application) with an accent color to achieve a sharp, contrast to the base color for a very dramatic effect. It also means that they are easy to cut, modify, or drill to suit the needs of your project. The backs are flat, so they lay perfectly flush to your background.The only downside (for my specific use) is that there are some rough spots that need to be sanded to achieve a level of smoothness required for scale (1:6) work - but this won't be as much of an issue for those using them in full-scale furniture applications since the imperfections are very minute and full-scale furniture is rarely inspected with the level of scrutiny given to scaled environments/dioramas.Overall, I am very very pleased with these and I highly recommend them.

These well-made carved wood appliques work well as accents on furniture, chests, shelves, or wall hangings. The wood carving is well done; the wood itself is clear and has a nice, even appearance. These can easily be painted or varnished if one wishes to do so. The finish is rough, with some feathering that requires sanding for a better look, especially if it is finished with paint or stain. These are probably machine-carved because they are very accurately reproduced, which would not be possible if they were hand-carved. The product description is accurate. They arrived in one day without any issues. I would get these again.
