About this item

  • Mustad Signature Duratin Fly Hooks
  • Hand tied by qualified professionals

The super-secret crab fly that catches the majority of Permit in Southern Belize. This is the favorite fly of the world class permit guides in Belize.
It is also to catch all crab eating fish such as Redfish, Bonefish and Tarpon too!
This fly has a special weight that ensures the fly lands hook side up, combined with a weed guard it allows the angler to move the fly when the permit is around and not worry about snagging the bottom. All are tied on size #2 hooks.
This fly has some great fish-ability but it also looks like a delectable multicolored native crab for the pickiest of Permit.
The hook is extremely durable and stands up to the Saltwater well. Remember to rinse all your flies well after fishing in saltwater.
More on The Mustad Signature Hooks:
The 2X extra heavy wire Saltwater Streamer hook is a classic O’ Shaughnessy style hook, suitable for a wide range of bonefish flies such as Crazy Charlie’s, Clousers, Redfish and Permit patterns, but also for traditional fish imitation patterns using Mylar tubing. The straight eye gives the fly a more natural swimming action when stripped in. The Mustad Signature fly hooks feature unique sharpness and strength. The hook features a 1X extra long shank and Duratin finish for maximal corrosion resistance. Developed in cooperation with the world´s top fly tiers to exact proportions between, gap, bend, wire diameter and shank length for precise scaling unmatched by others. Micro barb can easily be pinched down without damaging the hook for barbless applications. Chemically sharpened, Nor-Tempered high carbon steel.

The body of the crab is too small and causes a significant splash when casting with a fly rod. That splash will spook a redfish. Make the body about the size of a nickel to the size of a quarter and this fly would be a producer.

These are very well tied with attention to detail. I bought them for a Belize Permit trip in April so don't know if the'll fool the Permit. Camo crab flies are in the top 3 recommended for Southern Belize. Bauer crab, Camo crab, and Mantis shrimp
