It's good for the price. The fossils moved inside the case and you cannot open it to reposition them, so my daughter just took them out.

First, the three trilobites are correctly dated as DevonianI coincidentally ran across the Amazon image. I wasn't looking for a fossil, but they piqued my interest. These are early trilobites in an unusual form of Elrathia, I think—like stone butterflies. Unlike its long-lived progeny, the species did not evolve larger. After a little bit of reference, they are a form in the order Ptychopariida, likely in the line of Elrathia, and correctly ID'd as a Hunan, China subspecies.Second, the matrix is talc-schist, which presents a display problem. At Mohs The combo of talc-schist and 3D cellophane frame doesn't work, and I wish it did. Kudos for trying. It would be an excellent display set if not for the dust. The three individual fossils are delightful, so they are valuable for money. I appreciate the seller's pictures of the in situ conditions. And you never know what you might find. On closer examination, the specimens may be pyritized under microscopic dust, which would make for a delightful appearance after stabilizing the matrix.

For the price of $12.99, I wasn’t expecting much of the web quality. Very cool trilobite fossil specimens included in the set. Great conversation piece, but the display case is very very flimsy. Looks like something from the dollar store. The case itself is a plastic material and it looks like they’re wrapped in plastic cling wrap. I would probably upgrade the case to a shadowbox or a photo frame to use for display. Definitely would not give them as a gift as-is, due to the overall quality of the display stand. The fossils themselves though, are nice, they look slightly dusty as if they were just dug out of the ground. Perfectly fine though, after all, they are fossils from 450 million years ago, wow!

I love fossils and have been trying to get my son interested in them as well. The display these came with was unfortunately disappointing. It is hinged case with two windows of a stretchy plastic. The fossils are sandwiched between this stretchy material and held in place. The concept sounds good but unfortunately it already had several holes in the plastic before it arrived at my house. The holes weren't even near the fossils so it wasn't caused by sharp edges rubbing through. The case was easy to open and I was able to give them to my son and he was fascinated by them. So, in that aspect these have done the job nicely. If you are looking for some cool Trilobite fossils for your collection, then these will fit the bill. I wouldn't recommend these for the case or as a display piece.
