This is an adapter to allow you to feed 15A worth of power into your RV (at the normal 30A socket) using just a normal extension cord. This is plenty to allow you to keep you refrigerator running, lights, etc. You won't be able to run the AC, and maybe not even the microwave or coffee maker, but it is better than nothing. It is made with a L5-30P on one end, which mates with the one on the side of the RV (assuming 30A service). It has the screw-on locking ring to waterproof the connection. Then, the other end is a 5-15P plug, just like what plugs into a standard wall outlet in your house. Best of all, it is only a small adapter, so it will fit in your bucket of adapters for use whenever it is right for that particular time. Just plug it on, then plug in your standard extension cord and get up to 15A of power. The adapter is made from 10/3 STW cord. This is 3 conductors at 10AWG, which is standard for these 30A cables. The STW type means a thermoplastic jacket that is waterproof. It is not as flexible as SOOW cable, but it is fine for this use case. The thermoplastic vice rubber jacket means it has a slick feel that makes it more resistant to scuffs and looking dirty, too.The only real negative (and it is minor) is that this adapter is NOT UL rated. Because of this, it has a label that says, " For RV use only". It is ETL and CSA certified, though. Is this a big deal - not really. The three organizations all have pretty much the same standards. ETL is a "poor-man's UL" and is focused on electronics, where UL will test anything. But UL is lime-consuming and expensive. ETL lets you get to market much faster, which is why it is becoming more standard to see ETL/CSA (CSA is the Canadian version of testing lab) on imported electronic items. The only real difference is ETL uses specs from outside sources and does not publish testing methodologies, where UL does. UL is the tried and true standard, but is a bear to deal with (a bureaucratical self-licking ice cream cone) , so many forgo. The real question is, "Was it really tested, or is it counterfeit and they just put the logo on the label anyway." That part, I can't answer. One thing I do know - it worked for me! YMMV.

This thing is solid and works perfectly. We installed a new 50 amp outlet in our shop, but have both 30 amp and 50 amp trailers parked in it. It was a good solution to keep this close by so that any trailer could get the power they needed while loading up!
