I've learned over the years that AC compressor capacitor failures are pretty common and are often an easy and cheap fix vs. calling a technician and paying $200 plus for installation of a $40 part. BUT BE CAREFUL YOU DON'T ELECTROCUTE YOURSELF -- CAPACITORS NEED TO BE DISCHARGED EVEN WITH ELECTRICITY OFF. When replacing one recently, I found a loose wire and one of these things had burned out. Don't even really know what it is, but this replacement was an exact match and, with the capacitor, fixed my problem.
