These work for their intended purpose and do separate fruit tree limbs and bodies, but they worked and felt sturdier on the narrower-diameter fruit trees. Using the max specified size for them wouldn't work - also the sizing was a bit strange between the blue vs. black separators. So, they do their job as intended but they're not the highest quality unfortunately.

When I first got these branch spreaders to try, I was unimpressed. Can these pieces of plastic really spread the branches of my fruit trees? Before I get into the application, let me address the description on the Amazon page for this item. The description reads "Size: Black color is 4inch in length and green color is 5.1inch in length". Ok, two sizes, but the items pictured and received are black and blue. Minor detail. However, the photo showing the measurements has both colors being the same size. Contradictory information. The written description is the correct one.Now for the intended use. At first it is a little awkward trying to install them on the tree, but after a couple of failed attempts, I got them on. They do indeed spread the branches on my fruit trees, but my trees are small. I can't see them working on branches of any larger size. And, I have concerns about their use. Will they stay put in a wind storm? But more important, will the scrape the tender bark on a young tree as the tree moves in the wind? I guess only time would tell. Perhaps it would be best to pad the areas in contact with the tree.
