Trim-A-Slab is a product made from exterior-grade materials designed to replace rotten or missing wood often found in driveways and sidewalks over 5-years old. It offers many advantages over the tube-dispensed gooey stuff that has been about the only option available for years. Trim-A-Slab installs incredibly fast, looks great and can be removed and replaced in case you need to run wires for outdoor lighting across your driveway. California residents see Prop 65 WARNINGS

It’s hard to evaluate the size honestly that will fit the best … I wish these rubber joints were cheaper !

It’s expensive, but super easy to use, and I watched the installation videos. I bought the 3/8” after using the measuring guide template on the Trim-A-Slab website. The product arrived twisted and puckered in a ziplock bag, and had green stains which were hard to remove with a Clorox wipe. The gap between two sidewalks varied between 1/4" and 3/8", so the 3/8" worked fine. (The actual width of the 3/8” Trim-A-Slab is almost 5/8” at the top, and almost 5/8” high.)I had another gap that was narrower and fit the template for 3/16” at the bottom, and 1/4" at the top, so I ordered the 3/16”. However, that product slid down too far into the gap, and I now understand why. The template sizing guide (photo attached) shows a much deeper gap than the 3/16” product itself, which is only about 3/8” tall. So it slides down into the ¼” gap width at the top, and will never even reach the depth that the template is measuring at 3/16”. (The actual width of the 3/16” Trim-A-Slab is 5/16” at the top.) So I used the 3/8” size instead, which took more effort to insert, but worked fine.Note: The 3/16” is only offered in the 50’ length (anywhere), not 25’. Fortunately, because I bought it at Home Depot, it’s returnable.

Couldn't be easier to install. All of the work is just cleaning out the expansion joints (a shop vac is helpful along with a screwdriver, mallet, and maybe pliers for plant roots). The trim a slab can be easily pushed in with gloves, or I used a rubber mallet mostly. Unless you are a professional, this comes out looking far cleaner than if using backer rod and caulk.
