I was pleasantly surprised of the build quality and recording quality of this little recorder. I think this, cockroaches and Twinkies would be the only things to survive a nuclear war.Easy process to start recording, but it does take a moment to start the actual recording. The buttons and display are great! The menus aren't the most intuitive, but they're not the worst. I actually had to refer to the directions which I never do. Once you get it down it's easy, especially if you just want a simple recording. The password protection is nice touch. The sound quality far exceeded my expectations and the noise reduction works surprisingly well.I won't date myself, but the recorders I'm used to cost way more than this and were nowhere as good of quality!

If you’ve ever found yourself scrambling to take notes during a lecture or an interview, this digital voice recorder is exactly what you need. I picked it up to help with research interviews and note-taking, and it has quickly become an invaluable tool.Right out of the box, this recorder is incredibly straightforward, no complicated setup or confusing buttons. Just press record, and you’re good to go. The voice activation feature is a huge plus. With 128GB of storage, you’re looking at an insane 9,296 hours of recording time; that’s months’ worth of lectures or interviews without needing to offload files. This means you can focus on listening instead of worrying about running out of space. The recording quality is decent voices are clear, even in a moderately noisy environment. While it won’t replace professional studio equipment, for its intended purpose (lectures, meetings, interviews), it does the job well. Playback is crisp, and I love that it includes password protection for added security. This recorder is a lifesaver in educational settings. Instead of scrambling to write down every word, I can just listen and review later. For researchers, it ensures you capture every detail during interviews. Plus, playback is seamless, making it easy to transcribe important moments.

This is an average Dictaphone. It is easy enough to use and navigate once you know what the buttons do. They are black buttons with symbols in them so they're incredibly difficult for me to read. After figuring out how to navigate and which button is "enter" it got really easy. This picks up sound from very far away. It's a very raw recording sound which is great for recording lectures or whatever but not ideal for doing field recording for podcasts. There is, however, the option to use the onboard microphone or to plug in your own L and R microphones which would totally change the recording quality. My wife is a coach and I got this to record her when she's telling an inspiring story from one of our clients because I think that will be important down the road. Using this keeps the recordings from getting lost on a phone. The one downside to this is that it takes a few seconds (like 5) from switching it on until it's ready to record. If you need instant and fast this is something to consider. If you have a few seconds to prep, this works just fine. It is possible to set the recording bitrate for this from pretty basic to far better than digital needs to be. It goes from 125 Kbps all the way through 1536 Kbps which no one needs. 128gb internal storage means it will record hours upon hours of sound. Overall, this is a pretty fantastic device.

Once you scan over all the features on this amazing little digital recorder, you're sold. But does it deliver? Yes! I picked this up as a gift for a dear friend who was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and was wanting to replace his old, plastic digital recorder. Yes, you can use your smartphone but it's nice having a dedicated digital recorder that is compact and easy to throw in a pocket or bag for traveling. It comes with a 64GB micro USB card and is rechargeable via USB-C, so no batteries to replace or worry about leaking. It has stereo microphones, but not much stereo presence as the microphones are about an inch apart, but it does give that little bit of realism to the recording of an ambient situation. The controls are intuitive and discoverable, but there are also instructions included that will help round out your understanding of the settings. There are other input options which make this even more versatile as a digital recorder. The only thing that I didn't like was how it really amplifies noise when it's being handled during a recording. Best to lay this on a desk/table and not handle it during recording, otherwise you'll be frustrated with the sensitive microphone noises. But this is common for any small digital recorder, which is why using an external microphone is a nice option for this little recorder. The on/off button is a slide button on the right side, so easy to access with your thumb. The start/stop recording button is also on the right side and you simply slide it up to start and slide it down to stop. I like having all the usual playback buttons on the front, but I would have liked to have a red button on the front that you press to start/stop recording. Not a dealbreaker. This is a very capable digital recorder and would make a great gift. It feels heavy in the hand and is usually the first thing people comment about when they pick it up for the first time. A stark contrast to the plastic digital recorders which feel cheap. This is an easy recommendation for anyone looking for an affordable digital recorder with lots of features and a very small footprint. It's hard buying things online when you can't see, touch, or feel them.
