Couldn’t get head gasket surface clean no matter what I used, saw these online, gave them a shot. Worked great for cast block, no marring but enough to get old gasket material off. Bought 2 more sets.

I found low RPM, very little pressure provided the most controlled cleaning with the least material removal. It removed head gasket material a razor blade could not with ease and no scratching like a razor blade. It removed the staining as well. The unknown is if the changed surface roughness (RA) makes a difference. I think with a composite head gasket it probable does not matter on a stock engine.

My cylinder head gasket failed on my '04 Altima, and I needed something to clean up the mating surfaces that had residual RTV on them. Instead of going to try to tested route of using razor blades, I opted to look for something more easy. In addition, razor blades can leave scratches that you eventually have the buff out, as they can affect mating services.I don't have an air tool but these work just fine using a regular cordless drill. I also purchased the attachment head onto which these spin on. I would probably look for a lighter grit because these did leave some swirl marks in the aluminum even though I tried to be as careful as possible. Aside from that, I sure I'll find more uses for them and I could see them working especially well on steel surfaces.

I read an online posting recommending these for cleaning old gasket material from cylinder heads. I tried them and while it's tedious work, they eventually got the job done.

Used these to clean up LS heads while doing head gaskets. They seemed to hold up very well (easily did two heads with one disc, could probably do more). Cleaned off the minor corrosion and left behind gasket material with ease. To my untrained eye, they did not appear to damage the surface of the head at all. Light pressure and patience go a long way in success. The vehicle is still on the road 1yr later (and counting), so it must not have damaged anything too badly. They're a tad pricier than knock-offs, but the durability seems worth it.

It looks like these are 3M knockoffs but they cleaned up the cylinder heads nicely. They worked fine.

Compré el producto para probar la tecnología. Mi proyecto es raspar una puerta de madera barnizada con polyform 11000, y quería ver si el prodria ayudar en quitar el barniz y/o en la lijada de algunas secciones de la puerta, y con ello acelerar el proceso de raspado/lijado. De origen sabía que el producto no era para trabajar con madera. Hallazgos:1) para raspar, El producto no levanta/quita el barniz.2) para lijar, el grit de este producto es muy fuerte para madera de caoba. Deja rayones.3) para lijar la madera hay que usar un grit más suave, como es el producto en color amarillo o blanco.4) para pulir , hay que hacerlo con mucho cuidado para aplicar la presión necesaria sobre la madera y no dejar marcas.5) hay que probar antes de usar en material, como es probar la velocidad del taladro/dispositivo, ya que se comporta diferente el producto sobre el material dependiendo de los rpms. Y eso también afecta el desgaste del producto.6) seguire haciendo pruebas.Aún así, me parece interesante está tecnología.
