I bought these modules to interface with a serial console. I'm using Tera Term, similar to hyper but better IMHO. Anyway 2 of the 3 units function as they should, interfacing flawlessly without a glitch. The 3rd unit is reading 5.0Vdc on the 3.3V terminal. I traced it back to the CP2102 IC and it appears the 3.3V pin is putting out 5V. Can't attempt to reload the drivers on the unit because Windows 10 and 11 won't recognize the serial port with the device plugged in. So 3 out of 5 stars for the 3rd unit not working. Solder quality looks acceptable and workmanship looks good. Assuming a bad CP chip. So even though it ended up costing me $5/unit (for 2) given the 3rd unit not working it was still much less expensive than som USB-TTL cables out there.

Only one of the three units works because it seems the manufacturer programmed the product/vendor ID so it is not recognized as a UART.Here is the working one:[947593.026440] usb 3-1.2.3: new full-speed USB device number 18 using xhci_hcd[947593.238487] usb 3-1.2.3: New USB device found, idVendor=10c4, idProduct=ea60, bcdDevice= 1.00[947593.238515] usb 3-1.2.3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3[947593.238532] usb 3-1.2.3: Product: CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller[947593.238547] usb 3-1.2.3: Manufacturer: Silicon Labs[947593.238560] usb 3-1.2.3: SerialNumber: 0002[947593.280277] cp210x 3-1.2.3:1.0: cp210x converter detected[947593.283114] usb 3-1.2.3: cp210x converter now attached to ttyUSB3Here is what the rest of the adapters report:[947635.271389] usb 3-1.2.4.1.4: new full-speed USB device number 20 using xhci_hcd[947635.491544] usb 3-1.2.4.1.4: New USB device found, idVendor=11ca, idProduct=0204, bcdDevice= 1.00[947635.491568] usb 3-1.2.4.1.4: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3[947635.491582] usb 3-1.2.4.1.4: Product: VeriFone USB to UART Bridge[947635.491594] usb 3-1.2.4.1.4: Manufacturer: Silicon Labs[947635.491605] usb 3-1.2.4.1.4: SerialNumber: 0001Why are they reporting that they're a VeriFone USB to UART bridge?!?!? The CP2102 chips should not be programmed (I use these chips a lot in my board designs).

If you need the option to convert TTL logic via pins to USB, a feature usually included as part of most development boards, then this fits the bill pretty well. It also has options to work with 5v or 3.3v and can provide power via USB to the connected device.

I have been dreaming about this chip ever since I was a kid. Finally, it comes in a three pack!!! OMG!!! I was looking to flash opensource software on my IoT devices, and this allows me all the connections that I need. I finally feel whole now that this chip is in my life. I remember when this chip came to my house. The sun was shining, birds singing, and a new patch had just been released. This day will go down in history as the day I got my FT232RL.

I'm using this with a Reyax LoRa module that only accepts 3.3V.- It shows up as /dev/ttyUSB0 without any drivers under Linux 2.6.12 and better.- It did not blow up my LoRa device after I hooked the LoRa device's VDD pin up to the 3.3V output of this module. I did not measure the voltage sent on TX/RX but seems fine.

I tested and used all 3 to send signal to my Arduino Leonardo, needs driver installed, but easy to find on Google.

I missed that they are mini, my bad. On the good side, the chips are marked FTDI, and they are selectable for 3.3 or 5v.
