I was able to unscrew my 18 year old, crumbling vent covers, pull them out, insert these new ones into (inside) the 4" duct outlet opening, tape them in place, and screw them back into place with my existing four screws each. There was nothing unusual, nothing complicated. These worked perfectly, and the install of two took about 10 minutes. I used phillips and flat head screwdrivers + razor knife to remove the old covers, and duct tape + phillips screwdriver to install the new ones.

The item itself is just what you expect. We used it to cover the venting of a portable a/c. Whole purpose of the screen is to keep insects out but as you can see, once the unit stops the screen will hold the flap up and allow insects in. It is only held in place by the flaps, NO effort was ever made to secure the screen to the fixture. It is an easy fix with silicone but a bothersome one as a new item should NOT have to be fixed like this. Docked 3 stars for poor quality control on this one simple thing.Update - moved to 4 stars for fast customer service and resolution of issue.Customer service was quick to respond, I asked for a replacement IF the screen is attached to the fixture otherwise a refund. Their response is that they have issued a refund. So be aware that if the screen is something you need like we did you will have to adhere the screen yourself.

Took all of 5 minutes to install and caulk. Easy and inexpensive.

Replaced 15 yr old vent with this. Dimensionally identical so caulking and sealing make it perfect. Works fine.

I installed this vent cover today to replace a crumbling vent cover for our oven range exhaust. The vent cover appears to be made of quality plastic with flappy vent flaps. The dimensions were exactly the same as the 15 year old 6" vent 8" x 8" square cover that I replaced. The included screws are low quality and at half an inch, too short for a home with panel siding. I used my own 1" long screws. The product description says the vent cover comes with an aluminum grill. Mine came with a vinyl grill, which is a problem. With the exhaust fan on, the vinyl mesh is blown out. An aluminum mesh would be rigid enough to stay in place, but vinyl is not. I fixed it by using the included screws to screw the mesh to the vent cover. Annoying but easy enough.Overall a 4/5. Would have been 5/5 if I had received the aluminum mesh grill.

Our bathroom vent uses a 4-inch flexible plastic vent hose, the type with a spiral wire. The fit over the inner collar on this cover was snug, but once on it was a very good fit. Used a 4-inch steel band clamp to keep the hose attached, slid everything back into the wall, and screwed the vent to the house siding. You may need longer screws depending on the house siding, I used 2” stainless screws to make sure it was into the sheathing, not just the vinyl siding or insulation.Vent works as it should, tipping it slightly inward at the top will ensure that the three flaps close properly. Some reviews complained about a build-up of lint from a dryer, but that’s user error. No dryer exhaust cap should have any type of screen, only a flap, and I would recommend a galvanized steel exhaust for a dryer, Deflecto makes a good one that’s available on Amazon, it has a very wide mouth.

Good quality plastic with my wife’s favorite feature the metal anti critter/snake grate. This is serious for those of us in the southern U.S. The low profile is excellent as I was always hitting the old dryer vent with the lawn mower.I will check for lint blockages more often because of the metal grate but worth it.Less expensive than the low quality ones available at big box stores.

Remove the vent.. I probably sure have saved a whole $1 to get the "metal" mesh backing. I clipped it out with a pair of wire cutters to remove it. After that, lint flies right out. I do not suggest people buy this as lint will clump together and block the passage. We do laundry everyday, with many towels... it might work for people that do laundry once a week or more, but I think you'd still have to clean out the lint via the metal grate. I should have took photos, as mine was 1/3rd clogged before I removed it and removed the "metal" grate.
