This adapter worked well when my new car came with a 4 pin trailer plug when I requested a 7 pin round one.Unfortunately it didn't come with any instructions that might have had suggested ways to mount the bracket for the round plug. I couldn't think of anything to fasten it too but the flimsy plastic bumper cover or the hitch mount, which was way too thick for me to drill through. I asked a mechanically inclined neighbor to look at it, and fortunately another set of eyes saw a solution. The existing small bracket holding the 4 pin plug was held to my hitch with two bolts almost exactly the same distance apart as my 7 pin bracket. We did have to enlarge one hole on the new bracket, which wasn't too difficult and worked well.I recommend this adapter.

This 4-pin to 7-pin trailer adapter is exactly what I needed to connect my utility trailer, which has a 7-pin round connector, to my Jeep that only had a 4-pin flat trailer wiring setup. Installation was quick and easy, and the included mounting bracket provides a permanent, professional-looking mounting solution. What I love most is that the setup remains flexible—if I ever need to use the 4-pin flat connector directly, I can simply unplug the adapter without hassle. The upgraded 18AWG copper wire ensures reliable connectivity, and the build quality feels solid and durable. This adapter has been the perfect solution, eliminating the need for rewiring while keeping my setup versatile. Highly recommended for anyone in a similar situation!

I recently purchased an SUV with a tow package on it but it only had the 4 pin wire harness and my trailer has the round 7 pin connector. I had to use my trailer a few weeks ago and did not like that I had no lights on the trailer so I ordered this adapter right away to avoid it from happening again. Install was super quick. I drilled 2 holes and connected the bracket to my SUV then attached the adapter to the bracket with 4 bolts which were included with the adapter. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Now I can pull my trailer and have working lights again. Couldn't be happier.

This is a great product, but it doesn’t fit my vehicle unfortunately due to mine has the seven pins and no four adapters still well-made

I ordered this because my old work trailer used to have a 4-pin connector and I upgraded it to a 7-pin. The problem is, I have a 110-12v converter in my shop to plug my trailer into when I need to load up so I can turn on the interior lights, and that was previously wired to accommodate the 4-pin connection. Since I only needed the running lights to be hot (the interior lights are connected to that line) it should have been pretty easy... but when I initially plugged this in, there was no joy. I had two options for the running lights (because my particular wiring has all the running lights connected to either the right or left running light wire, either of them will work) I couldn't remember which one I used on the 7-pin conversion. Thinking I needed to swap the orientation in the new plug adapter (the 4-pin end is molded plastic and you can't take that apart) I opened that up and pulled the core out. I swapped the two tail light wires and then tried to get the core back in. There was no indication or channel guide to indicate the proper orientation. I (much) later discovered the two screws on the outside of the barrel did line up with some channels on the core, but would it have been so difficult for there to be a channel guide like most other plug components do? Very frustrated, I finally got it back in... and no lights. I was going to just toss it, but decided to wire it back to the original orientation, which was a bit easier now that I knew where the screws lined up. When I got it back together, I plugged it in just for the heck of it, and it worked! I found that the terminals on the socket were loose, and the one I needed had been too loose to make a consistent connection. So I had to take it out again and re-connect the terminals to ensure they were tight. They had not even been connected properly, the sleeve that the terminal should go under to prevent the terminal from slipping out was under the terminal instead of over it. Sloppy assembly. But in the end, it worked and just cost me about an hour and a half that I'll never get back.
