This O-ring is made of black Buna-nitrile, is round in cross-section, has a durometer of 70A, and is designed for use in a wide variety of sealing applications.
Buna-nitrile can have high tensile strength, and abrasion, tear, and compression set resistance. It can be used in temperatures between -30 degrees F (-34 degrees C) to 250 degrees F (121 degrees C), and is compatible for use with petroleum, HFA, HFB and HFC fluids, vegetable oil, alcohol, acids and aliphatic hydrocarbons. Buna-nitrile is vulnerable to acetone, ethers, esters, ozone, sunlight and weathering and should therefore not be used in ozone-generating electric motors, welding equipment, or in applications with exposure to UV light.
This Buna O-ring has a shore durometer of 70A. Shore durometer is the hardness of a material, and its resistance to permanent indentation. A higher durometer value indicates greater resistance to indentation on a scale of 0 to 100, with 100 indicating no indentation.
O-rings commonly provide a pressure and fluid seal between cylindrically shaped, overlapping mating surfaces and are commonly seen in engines, faucets, flanges, valves, and various cylinders. They are circular in shape, with a round cross section, and a hole in the center, similar to a doughnut. O-rings are available in various sizes, and can be ordered based on required nominal inside diameter (ID), outer diameter (OD), and cross-sectional (CS) diameter.
These Buna-nitrile O-rings meet standards defined by Aerospace Standard AS568A, which is the Aerospace Size Standard for O-rings.

I laughed when I read the recent (?) review from Ed Cameron, because I was looking for an O-ring for the exact same purpose. I have a claw-foot tub we installed within the last decade including a hand-held shower spray (that we have honestly only used to rinse the dust out of the tub that we rarely use, but I digress). The O-ring on the sprayer serves as a combination bumper and visual accent, and the original was cracking and therefore ruining any visual appeal. My local big box hardware had zilch. My local neighborhood hardware store had some O-rings in the bottom of a tray that were close but not close enough. This fits perfectly. I applied a little silicone grease (from my pool O-ring supplies) hoping it will extend the life. If not, I have more backups than I'll need in my lifetime and will protect them from light, air, flexing, and anything else that might degrade the material. I'm happy with the purchase but have no clue whether these will properly seal anything.

This was for a handheld shower head on a limited production faucet set for a claw foot tub. Parts were not available separately. I measured the old ring and was able to match it perfectly with online information from this seller. This ring not only seals the body together, it acts as a bumper to protect the enameled tub if the head is dropped. The fit is perfect and the shower head is ready for another 15 years.

The oring was a bit stiff even after soaking in silicone grease for a few days. So, if using in an application requiring some tolerance in size I recommend buying it as close as possible to the size you need. Overall it is a good buy.

Needed a 2" o ring for a 30 year old air compressor port. So i bought this one and another that was half the thickness. The other one fit better, bit this one is.very good quality at a very good price.
