because of the ball size, can lock down easily and hold up under weight.

The head is much heavier then my benro ball head, but I wanted something much stouter. The large handle on the ball holds tension on the ball and it does an awesome job at that. The small knob on the ball locks in the pan on the ball, and it rotates smoothly. The plate on the top of the ball is huge and will provide a lot of area for mounting a hefty load. I plan to put this head through some work.

I have a Sirui K-30x ball head that I have used for a number of years and like. But recently I needed to get a second ball head for short-term use. I didn't want to spend any more than I had to for it, so I searched around and came upon this one. It seemed to check all the boxes, so I took a chance. I'm glad I did. The product has all the aspects that I need: the ball is large enough to support a full-size digital camera with a standard focal range zoom lens attached; it doesn't droop under load when tightened for use; it has a slot to drop into portrait mode; it has a panning base; and it has a leveling bubble. It has filled my short-term needs well. But I won't be replacing the Sirui with it once this project is finished -- the build quality cannot compare to the Sirui -- which cost 2.5 times as much. The tightening lever is not as robust; the ball adjustment is not as smooth; and the fit and finish are in a completely different league. But, for the price, this is a very serviceable product.

Very good ballhead, I like it low profile and the locking is excellent, I don't like it as it doesn't kept upright, swing to the left and to the right is loosen the locking knob, it will be perfect if it can stand upright all the time even I losen the tighten key..

It's good but not as smooth as I hoped. Should have got the more expensive one.

Using a DSLR w/18-55 zoom I find the size of this head to be ideal. After about 50 hours of uses it still locks very very securely at any angle with no need to overly tighten any knob. Only complain is about the smoothness of the angle adjustment, it is a bit jerky and difficult to make small adjustment without fully unlocking the ball.

I'm reviewing the 46mm low profile model. This is a high quality ball head at a very reasonable price. I swapped out my much more expensive Manftotto of similar load capacity and like the Artcise better. It is precisely machined and generally very well made. The ball moves smoothly and locks easily and tightly. Low shoulders around the top of the ball allow great movement/range. Be aware that rotation of the head while panning is tightly damped, even with the lock knob fully open. I thought this would be an issue, but once I tried it I find that I really appreciate the slow panning action. However, I shoot only stills. Video shooters might want to be able to make it looser and have the ability to pan faster. My rig is much lighter than the rated maximum load, but I expect it could handle 25 lbs with no problem, and perhaps the rated 44lbs. This is an excellent head for the money.

I decided to take a chance with this ball head and was very pleased. The 46 mm ball is a good choice for my 60” Delica carbon fiber tripod. I wasn’t really sure if I wanted to go to a 52 mm or a 55 mm and I’m glad I took a shot at this 46 mm instead. The knobs are plastic but should hold up for what I’m asking it to do as I am not a photographer in the feld daily. I plan on using this to stage a chronograph at a firing range. If I was to be a photographer I would still consider this a great place to start. It doesn’t break the bank and it gives you full control of your camera. On a scale of one to 10 I would give this about an 8.5. My only concern would be if I was to leave my equipment in my car under harsh weather conditions being either extreme cold or extreme heat. We all know plastic doesn’t hold up well in those conditions. As I said this would be an excellent point to start out in the field photography and give you an idea of what you would like and not like in future equipment. I’m sure you would get some good use out of it before you upgraded.Would I recommend this? The short answer is yes. If you’re breaking into the field of photography. It is also an awesome ball head if you want to have control of a chronograph axis .
