For the conditioning tool, this is a really good wire wheel. It's really heavy, surprisingly so. In fact, the flimsy cardboard box that is packaged in wasn't enough to keep it inside. The box was falling apart by the time I removed it. What are these good for? Naturally, you can use these to remove rust from metal or even corrosion. But another good purpose for them is if you're reclaiming wood, and you want to prepare it for finishing, but don't want to remove the weathering or age to it, this does a good job of acting like a sort of belt sander but allowing for texturing. The price is only about two thirds the cost of the name brand and so it's a good deal. These things last for a long time since they're twisted wire and so it's a great deal especially since there's a discount on it currently. I'm happy with it and would get it again. Pay attention to the dimensions to make sure that it fits in your conditioning tool.

This easily fit in my (modified) Harbor Freight surface conditioning tool. Originally, the guard on the tool was too close to the wheel and made it impossible to use anything other than the HF brand wheels. A little bit of drilling, bending, cursing, re-drilling, re-bending later, I was the proud owner of a tool that would fit just about any wheel I threw at it.I only say this for reference. I'm not recommending that you mod your own tools. I just don't want somebody to read my review and assume this will fit their unmodified HF tool, because it probably won't.All that being said, this thing is a beast. The twisted steel wire makes it far more aggressive than a standard wire wheel, which is great for removing paint and scale from metal. It's also great because the steel wire won't eat into the metal like an abrasive wheel might do if you're not careful. Be warned, though, this is a heavy wheel. There's a lot of metal here and that extra weight means there will be a lot more momentum in that wheel once it spins up to full speed. Be safe and make sure it stops spinning before you set it down. Hold on tight, because if it gets caught on something, it will try to rip itself out of your hands. It works really well, though.
