Operation

Functions like a full manual valve body; whatever gear you select that is the gear the trans will be in.

Gear changes made with factory column shifter or floor mounted shifter.

Shifter must have 7 positions PRND321

Transmission will not shift up or down without moving the shifter.

Maintains OEM forward shift pattern and engine braking on downshifts.

Operation

Operates with continuous full line pressure for firmer shifts, less clutch slippage and cooler operating temperatures.

Automatic torque converter lock up. Converter locks up when transmission is shifted into 4th gear (overdrive) and unlocks when downshifted. Wo1ry f1ree operation; no accidental stalling at stop lights. Light indicates converter "locked".

Converter can also be manually controlled with the 3 position switch which is included.

AKA 3rd gear spool up mod. Increases foot brake stall speed by 50% or more. Great for building boost on turbo setups.

I would give negative stars if I could please do not waste your money like me I hooked it up exactly like the company said to and my transmission never shifted out of first again

This wiring kit makes a 4L80E full manual, with no auto shifting.The shifting will be like a clutchless 4 speed manual, the torque converter is the clutch.I haven't had it running yet but I can't see any issues with quality or why it wouldn't work.The transmission plug, splices, and wires all look like good components.The junction box doesn't have any identification part number printed on it, it's plain.My complaints are the kit has no instructions at all, you will need to copy or print them from the 2nd and 3rd Ad pictures. It's only a few wires, but still would be nice to have diagrams in the kit.The Ad description and requirements is very good, just not included in the kit.The aluminum junction box is really close to the transmission plug, only 7 inches away. I wish it was further away, closer to the other end.The wire colors don't exactly match OEM colors, and it's kind of expensive for not having those details.I would recommend it for the race car or big block powerd car that is being upgraded to an overdrive.I Hope My Review And Pictures Were a little bit Helpful !!

This thing is pretty neat. It took maybe 15 minutes to wire the thing up and down the road you go.The toggle switch for lock up however is pretty much required.The way lock up works in auto mode, it's gonna engage when the shifter is put in Drive (4th in this case) and being that I have a ratchet shifter, you can't just throw the shifter all the way down to first right away. So when you hit drive it will stall if you don't the switch shut off while sitting still.So it's not just a leave it on auto ordeal.You'll have to go to first gear first, then you can use the auto feature.Same if you need to stop and use reverse, you'll have to shut the switch off as you pass Drive or you'll stall on the way there.This may not be an issue with people who have factory shifters who can move them fast enough.But it's nothing you can't get used to either.

This is a harness for the guy that needs an all mechanical solution to an electronic transmission. If you gotta have the 4l80e and it needs to run on a budget this may be your best option. Especially if you’re avoiding as many computers as you can. It’s a straightforward job and far less messy than full TCM ECU install or swap. Could also help with redundancy if you really needed a safety net in a tight spot. The harness itself is great quality and I’m kind of shocked that you can get this at this price. Nice!
